Chapter 1: The Recording That Changed Everything

Chapter 1: The Recording That Changed Everything
Christopher gently laid eight-year-old Emma on the living room sofa.
A doctor examined the trembling child while servants gathered silently around the grand room.
The old housekeeper, Mrs. Agnes, placed the small digital recorder onto the mahogany table.
"I think everyone should hear this," she said.
Juliette, still being restrained by security near the front entrance, laughed bitterly.
"This is ridiculous! That little liar fell into the lake by herself!"
Christopher looked at the recorder.
"Play it."
A click echoed through the silent room.
At first, only wind and birds could be heard.
Then came Juliette's unmistakable voice.
"You're just like your mother... always in my way."
Emma's tiny voice trembled.
"Please... I only wanted to feed the ducks."
Juliette laughed.
"When you're gone, everything belongs to my son."
The room froze.
Then another sound.
A splash.
Emma screaming.
"Please! I can't swim!"
Juliette's cold reply followed.
"Then stop fighting."
Several family members covered their mouths.
Christopher's face turned pale.
Mrs. Agnes whispered,
"I followed them because something felt wrong."
The recording continued.
For almost twenty seconds...
There was only the sound of water.
Then Christopher's voice in the distance.
"Emma!"
Immediately afterward...
Juliette's tone completely changed.
"Oh my God! Emma fell! Somebody help!"
Christopher slammed his fist onto the table.
"You tried to murder my daughter."
Juliette shook her head frantically.
"No! That's edited!"
Mrs. Agnes calmly handed another item to the family lawyer.
"My security camera recorded the same timeline."
May you like
Juliette finally realized...
There was no escape.
