The thunder of helicopter blades echoed over Ravencrest Estate.
Victor Hale stepped away from his wife, suddenly uncertain.
The gates exploded open.
Not with violence...
With authority.
A convoy of black armored vehicles rolled across the courtyard.
Every guard Victor had hired lowered their weapons without resistance.
A tall silver-haired man exited the first vehicle.

The injured woman slowly struggled to her feet.

Alexander looked at the blood covering his daughter's back.
His expression never changed.
That frightened everyone more than rage ever could.
He quietly removed his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders.
Then he turned toward Victor.
"You have exactly one opportunity."
Victor forced a laugh.
"I think you've misunderstood—"
