Jonathan nodded toward the wooden box.

"May I?"

Olivia handed it to him.

Inside were three years of memories.

Ultrasound photographs.

Handwritten letters to the baby.

Receipts showing every paycheck she had quietly contributed to help pay the mortgage.

And one worn notebook.

Every page documented insults, humiliation, and financial sacrifices she had endured without complaint.

Jonathan closed the lid.

"I asked you to keep records."

"I prayed you would never need them."

Behind him, the family's attorney stepped forward.

"Mrs. Sinclair's financial contributions and the documented evidence will be presented during the divorce proceedings."

Ethan stared at Olivia.

"You planned this?"

She shook her head.

"No."

"I planned for us to have a family."

"You gave me a reason to protect myself instead."

At that moment, Ethan's phone rang.

His company's chairman.

He answered with trembling hands.

"What?"

His face lost all color.

"The financing..."

A long silence.

Then he whispered,

"I understand."

The line went dead.
