Chapter 4 – Home at Last

Eight months later...

The mansion felt different.

The shouting had disappeared.

The fear was gone.

Emily no longer wore a maid's uniform.

She wore the black dress her late mother had once saved for a special occasion.

One evening, she and Victor stood together in the garden overlooking the estate.

"Papa?"

"Yes?"

"Why did you come home early?"

He smiled softly.

"I missed my daughter."

"I changed my flight because I wanted to surprise you."

Emily looked down.

"If you hadn't..."

He gently took her hand.

"I know."

They stood in silence as the sun disappeared behind the trees.

Some people believed wealth was measured by mansions, luxury cars, or bank accounts.

Victor had learned a different truth.

The greatest fortune a parent can possess...

Is the chance to protect their child before it's too late.

He wrapped an arm around Emily's shoulders.

"You'll never kneel for anyone again."

For the first time in years...

May you like

She believed him.

The End.
