Bianca spun around so quickly that one of her high heels slipped against the wet stone.
For the first time since Julian had met her...
she looked genuinely frightened.
"Julian..."
Her voice trembled.
"When did you get home?"
He didn't answer.
His eyes remained fixed on his mother, who was still struggling to hold herself above the water.
He crossed the patio in three long strides and reached into the pool.
"Mom."
Martha grabbed his forearm with surprising strength.
He pulled her safely onto the deck.
She was shaking violently.
Not from the cold.
From fear.
Julian wrapped his suit jacket around her shoulders.
