Chapter 10 – The Return

Chapter 10 – The Return
A young federal investigator asked Arthur one final question.
"Do you ever regret coming back?"
Arthur looked at the old black case resting on a shelf.
The satellite phone.
The authentication card.
The life he had once left behind.
Then he shook his head.
"I didn't come back to destroy a man."
"I came back to protect my daughter."
Outside, Lily planted flowers in the garden her mother had once loved.
The scars would take time to heal.
Some never would.
But fear no longer lived in that house.
Arthur closed the black case one last time.
He hoped he would never need to open it again.
