Chapter 3 — The Truth Hidden Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 3 — The Truth Hidden Behind Closed Doors
The lead investigator placed every document across the dining table.
Forgery.
Unauthorized loans.
Bank transfers.
Credit cards opened in Valeria's name.
Property ownership documents altered without consent.
The birthday party had never been the investigation.
It had been the final opportunity.
Ernesto had spent six months quietly building the case.
The only missing piece...
Was proof that Julián's violence was ongoing.
Moments earlier...
Julián had proudly provided it himself.
The investigator looked at him.
"Mr. Herrera..."
"You're under arrest for suspected domestic assault, financial fraud, coercive control, and document forgery pending further investigation."
Julián laughed nervously.
"You can't arrest me because of one slap."
Ernesto finally spoke.
"No."
"The slap simply confirmed everything else."
The handcuffs clicked shut.
For the first time...
Julián understood that confidence isn't the same as innocence.
Ofelia collapsed into a chair.
"You've destroyed this family."
Valeria slowly walked back into the house.
She looked at the woman who had spent years calling abuse "discipline."
Then answered quietly.
"No."
"You destroyed it the first time you told me to stay silent."
No one defended Ofelia.
Not even the guests.

One by one...
They quietly walked out of the house.
