Chapter 2: The Boardroom Reckoning

Chapter 2: The Boardroom Reckoning
The convoy swept through the city toward corporate headquarters.
Inside the mansion, Daniel stood frozen.
His phone rang.
Then another.
Then another.
He answered the first call.
"This is Daniel."
A nervous voice replied.
"Sir... the board has called an emergency meeting."
"I know."
"They've already voted."
"What?"
"There was no vote today," Daniel snapped.
"There is now."
The line went dead.
Patricia grabbed his arm.
"This is just a scare tactic."
But her own voice lacked conviction.
Twenty minutes later, Elena entered the executive boardroom.
Every director was already standing.
Not one remained seated.
"Good evening, Ms. Ward," the chairman said respectfully.
"The resolutions are ready for your signature."
Daniel burst through the doors moments later.
"You can't do this!"
The chairman calmly slid a folder across the polished table.
"We already have."
Inside was the official resolution.
Effective immediately, Daniel Harrison is removed as Chief Executive Officer for breach of fiduciary duty, misuse of corporate assets, and failure to disclose conflicts of interest.
Daniel looked at Elena.
"You planned this."
She met his eyes.
"No."
"I prepared for the day you forced my hand."
Chloe rushed into the room behind him.
"There has to be a mistake!"
One of the directors looked at her with quiet confusion.
"And you are...?"
For the first time that evening, Chloe realized she was nobody in this room.
She slowly lowered her eyes.
Security officers entered.
One stepped toward Daniel.
"Sir, we're here to escort you from the executive floor."
Daniel looked desperately toward Elena.
She didn't move.

She simply signed the final page.
The sound of her pen touching paper ended his career.
