Chapter 4: The Last Signature

Chapter 4: The Last Signature
Three months later...
Lucas sat alone in a lawyer's office.
His tailored suits had been replaced by plain jackets.
His confidence had vanished.
The divorce papers lay on the desk once again.
Only this time...
They were Isabella's.
Their attorneys had negotiated a fair division of their personal property.
There were no tricks.
No revenge.
Just an orderly end.
When Isabella entered, Lucas stood.
"I was wrong."
She remained silent.
"I thought success made me untouchable."
"I thought you'd never leave."
He looked down.
"I've lost everything."
She shook her head gently.
"No."
"You lost everything the day you stopped valuing the people who helped you build it."
He slid the papers toward her.
She signed.
Then handed him the pen.
He signed as well.
For a long moment, neither spoke.
Finally, Lucas asked,
"Is there any chance...?"
She smiled sadly.
"Trust is like glass."
"It can sometimes be repaired."
"But it never becomes what it was before."
She picked up her copy of the agreement and walked toward the door.
Just before leaving, she turned back one last time.
"I didn't take your future, Lucas."
"You traded it away."
The door closed quietly behind her.
Outside, the afternoon sun reflected from the windows of the company she now openly led—not as a hidden owner, but as a respected leader.
Under her direction, the business recovered, employees prospered, and the culture slowly changed.
She had won the company.
More importantly, she had reclaimed her peace.
Because the greatest victory was never making someone else lose.
May you like
It was refusing to lose yourself.
The End.
