The admiral picked up the printed program from the nearest table.
He opened the first page.
"In recognition of the officers who organized tonight's event..."
His finger stopped beside one name.
Captain Eleanor Morgan, USN
Officer in Charge, Naval Ball Committee
He handed the program to Helen.
"You were personally invited because Captain Morgan approved every guest."
Helen stared at the page.
Her lips parted.
Then closed again.
Frank lowered his eyes.
The admiral continued.
"Her name also appears on tonight's security authorization."
"The protocol approvals."
"The seating assignments."
"And the command roster."
He paused.
"So when you asked military police to remove her..."

"...you were asking them to remove the officer responsible for this entire event."
A ripple of embarrassed whispers spread through the ballroom.
