Chapter 10 – The Vintage

Two years later, the winery released a limited reserve wine.

Its name surprised everyone.

Second Harvest.

At the launch event, a reporter asked Eleanor why she had chosen it.

She looked toward Clara, who now directed the winery's charitable foundation supporting survivors of domestic violence.

"The first harvest gives you fruit."

"The second proves the vineyard survived winter."

She paused.

"So do people."

Nearby, Clara gently touched the faint scar near her temple.

Once, she had hidden it beneath her hair.

Now, she no longer tried.

Because healing wasn't about pretending nothing had happened.

It was about refusing to let pain decide the rest of your story.

As the sun settled behind the vineyards, Eleanor raised a glass.

Not to celebrate victory.

Not to celebrate revenge.

But to celebrate truth.

Because families are not defined by the people they protect.

They are defined by the courage to confront those who have done wrong—even when that person bears the family name.

And on that quiet autumn evening...

the Vale family finally began growing something far more valuable than wine.

They began growing trust again.

The End.
