Chapter 1: The Wedding Night Trap

Chapter 1: The Wedding Night Trap

The door of the Manhattan penthouse closed with a soft click, sealing away the cheers of the wedding reception below.

Julian Cole loosened his expensive tie and poured himself a glass of vintage whiskey. Every movement radiated confidence. He had just married Emily Carter—the quiet country girl everyone believed was hopelessly devoted to him.

She stood silently beside the floor-to-ceiling windows, still wearing the dazzling diamond necklace he had personally fastened around her neck.

"You look nervous," Julian said with a mocking smile.

Emily lowered her eyes.

"I... I've never lived somewhere like this."

"Of course you haven't."

He laughed before walking toward the king-sized bed. From a drawer, he slowly pulled out a coiled black leather whip and casually tossed it onto the white sheets.

The sharp crack echoed through the room.

Most women would have screamed.

Emily didn't.

She simply blinked once.

Julian mistook her calmness for terror.

"Perfect," he thought.

For two years, he had carefully isolated her from friends, manipulated every decision she made, and convinced everyone she was emotionally unstable. Tonight was the final step.

Tomorrow, doctors under his control would diagnose her with severe psychosis.

Within a week...

She would disappear forever into a private psychiatric hospital.

Julian raised the whip again.

"Do you know why I chose you?"

Emily quietly shook her head.

"Because no one would ever believe you."

A long silence filled the room.

Then...

Emily smiled.

Not a frightened smile.

A terrifying one.

"So..."

"You finally admitted it."

Julian frowned.

"What?"

Emily slowly removed her high heels.

Then the necklace around her neck flashed with a tiny blue light.

Miles away...

Inside the Manhattan Police Headquarters...

Every word inside the penthouse was being transmitted live.

Detectives stared silently at the monitors.

One officer whispered,

"We've got him."

May you like

Julian still had no idea.

The hunt had just begun.
