CHAPTER 1: The Plate That Shattered Silence

CHAPTER 1: The Plate That Shattered Silence
The royal dining hall had been built for restraint.
Not celebration.
Not chaos.
Restraint.
Gold-trimmed ceilings. Velvet curtains. A table so long it felt like judgment stretched across it.
Until the plate broke.
CRASH.
Porcelain exploded against marble.
Orange sauce splashed across the floor like a stain no luxury could hide.
The floral-dress woman shot to her feet.
Her chair scraped violently.
“Look what you did!” she snapped, pointing.
At the far end of the table—
an elderly woman in a black maid uniform stood trembling.
“I… I didn’t—” the old woman tried.
But her voice was too soft.
Too fragile for a room that had already decided what she was.
The younger woman stepped forward in expensive heels.
Each step louder than the last.
“Do you know how much this table costs?” she hissed.
The old woman lowered her head.
“I’m not staff… I was just—”
“Useless,” the younger woman cut in.
Her finger jabbed the air.
“Clean it. Now.”
A few guests shifted uncomfortably.
But no one spoke.
Because speaking meant choosing sides.
And in rooms like this—
people preferred silence over courage.
The old woman’s hands shook as she bent toward the broken plate.
May you like
Not because she agreed.
But because she had learned what resistance costs.
