Daniel no longer occupied the corner office he once called his own.

The merger had collapsed.

New investors chose different partners.

His reputation never fully recovered.

Emily never celebrated his downfall.

She simply walked away.

One afternoon, she stood beside her father on the balcony of Carter Holdings' headquarters.

"Do you miss any of it?" he asked.

Emily looked across the city.

"I miss the woman who thought love meant accepting disrespect."

She smiled gently.

"I don't miss the life she was living."

Her father nodded.

"I was never proud because you came home."

"I was proud because you finally remembered your worth."

Emily slipped her arm through his.

Together, they walked back inside.

Not to reclaim the past.

But to build a future founded on respect instead of sacrifice.
