Chapter 2: The Wrong Sentence
The smile disappeared from Savannah's face.
Only for a second.
But it was enough.
"What do you mean?" she asked lightly.
I looked around the table.
Every phone that had been recording my humiliation was now pointed at her instead.
"You just mentioned the March statements."
Savannah forced a laugh.
"So?"

"No," I said.

Kenzie frowned.
"I don't get it."

"My brother asked me to review some unusual charges because I'm the accountant for our family's business."
Becca's eyes widened.
"I thought Ethan handled all the finances himself."
"He usually does."
I folded my stained napkin carefully.
"But three months ago, someone started moving money through the wedding account."
Savannah interrupted.
"That's ridiculous."
"Is it?"
I reached into my purse and removed a thin folder.
"I wasn't standing up for the photographer."
I placed the folder on the table.
"I was going to hand these to you privately."
No one spoke.
Inside were copies of invoices.
Duplicate payments.
Fake vendor receipts.
Transfers to companies that didn't exist.
Each one highlighted in yellow.

Becca whispered,
"Oh my God..."
