Chapter 3: Greed Without an Heir

Chapter 3: Greed Without an Heir

Six months later...

Olivia gave birth to a healthy daughter.

Marcus stood quietly outside the hospital room.

He smiled when he heard the baby's first cry.

Claire later admitted responsibility for pushing Olivia after overwhelming physical evidence, surveillance footage, and witness testimony were presented in court.

The investigation also uncovered financial records showing she expected to inherit a substantial share of the family estate if Olivia and her unborn child were no longer alive.

Those records became part of the evidence explaining her motive.

One year later...

The mansion looked different.

The balcony railing had been reinforced.

Additional security cameras had been installed throughout the estate.

Near the front entrance stood a simple framed photograph.

It showed Marcus holding a laughing little girl while Olivia smiled beside them.

Underneath was a short inscription:

"One act of courage can change generations."

When a reporter later asked Marcus whether he considered himself a hero, he shook his head.

"I was doing my job."

Then he looked toward the child running across the garden.

"The real victory isn't that I caught someone."

"It's that a little girl had the chance to grow up."

And everyone who heard the story remembered the same truth:

Jealousy can convince people that another person's happiness is an obstacle, but greed built on harming others ultimately destroys itself. Courage is not measured by strength alone—it is measured by the willingness to act when someone else's life depends on you. One person's quick decision to protect another can change the future of an entire family.

The End.
