Chapter 1: The Truth Behind the Mansion

Chapter 1: The Truth Behind the Mansion

The mansion was silent except for the pregnant woman's trembling sobs.

The man in the black suit knelt beside her, carefully wrapping his coat around her shoulders.

"You're safe now," he whispered.

She looked up through tear-filled eyes and recognized him.

"Daniel..."

It had been three years since she had last seen him.

Three years since she disappeared without telling anyone she was carrying his child.

Before Daniel could ask another question, security guards escorted the woman in the red dress away from the center of the room.

"No! You don't understand!" she screamed. "She's the one lying!"

Daniel didn't answer.

Instead, he looked toward the wall where a large security monitor displayed the footage from only minutes earlier.

Everyone watched in silence.

The video showed the pregnant woman quietly asking for her personal belongings before the woman in red slapped her across the face, pushed her onto the marble floor, and cruelly stepped on her hand while mocking her unborn baby.

No one could deny the truth anymore.

The woman in red, Victoria, slowly collapsed into a chair.

She finally realized her lies had come to an end.

Daniel turned toward the lawyer standing nearby.

"Call the police."

Within minutes, officers arrived.

Victoria was arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman, while Daniel carried the exhausted mother-to-be out of the mansion.

As they drove toward the hospital, he asked the question that had haunted him for years.

"Is... the baby mine?"

The young woman closed her eyes and quietly nodded.

"Yes."

Daniel gripped the steering wheel tighter.

Everything he believed about the past suddenly changed.

And he silently promised one thing.

No one would ever hurt them again.
