The Chief Executive Officer closed the folder.

Two members of the company's legal department entered the conference room carrying sealed envelopes.
One was placed in front of Damian.
The other in front of Veronica.
Damian tore his open.
His hands began to shake.
Notice of Immediate Removal as Chief Executive Officer.
He looked toward the board.
"You can't do this."
An elderly director calmly adjusted his glasses.
"We already have."
Another director spoke.
"Your employment contract contains a clause allowing the majority shareholder to remove executive leadership by board vote."
Damian turned toward Elena.

She met his eyes without raising her voice.
"You never bothered reading the agreement."
"You only signed where people told you to sign."
The Chairman struck the table gently with a wooden gavel.
"The motion passes unanimously."

Damian's security badge stopped working.
His company laptop remotely locked.
