Chapter 3 — The Woman Who Never Asked for Credit
Emiliano stood.
"We're ending this."
He walked quickly through the private hallway.
The security team followed.
When Patricia heard footsteps, she smiled.
"Back so soon?"
Then she saw him.
Everything changed.
"You weren't supposed to..."
He walked past her without saying a word.
Straight to his daughters.
Both girls looked up in surprise.
"Dad?"
He knelt.
His eyes were red.
"I'm sorry."
Daniela frowned.
"For what?"
"For believing whispers instead of watching with my own eyes."
Martina threw herself into his arms.
"I thought you were mad at us."
His heart broke.
"Never."
"Not again."
Patricia finally recovered.
"This is ridiculous."
"That maid manipulated everything."
Emiliano slowly turned toward her.
"No."
"You manipulated me."
He pointed toward the ceiling.
"I watched every second."
Every trace of confidence disappeared from Patricia's face.
"You..."
"The cameras?"
"Yes."
"I saw you plant the bracelet."
"I saw you destroy my daughters' drawings."
"I saw you threaten children who only wanted their father."
Silence filled the room.
Rosa quietly stood near the doorway.
She looked as though she wished she could disappear.
Emiliano walked toward her.
"I'm sorry too."
She looked down.
"I was only doing my job."
He shook his head.
"No."
"You were protecting my family..."
"...while I failed to."
Security approached Patricia.
"Miss Patricia..."
"We'll escort you to collect your belongings."
She stared at Emiliano.
"You'd choose a housekeeper over your fiancée?"
He answered without hesitation.
"No."
"I'm choosing the truth."

She left the mansion that afternoon.
She never looked back.
