Chapter 11 – The Final Trap

Chapter 11 – The Final Trap

Victor Blackwood had spent years building a reputation.

A reputation that made people afraid.

A reputation that made enemies think twice before crossing him.

But that night...

For the first time in years, Victor was afraid.

Not for himself.

For Ethan.

And for Lily.

The call had lasted only seven seconds.

Seven seconds of a voice that should have been impossible.

"Victor... don't trust anyone."

Isabella.

His dead wife.

The woman whose voice he had not heard since the day she died.

Victor stood alone in his office, staring at the phone in his hand.

The room was dark.

The city lights outside reflected against the glass.

But Victor saw none of it.

His mind was somewhere else.

Ten years ago.

A hospital room.

A newborn Ethan.

A tired Isabella smiling at him.

"Promise me something, Victor."

"What?"

"Promise me you will protect him."

He had promised.

And he had failed.

A knock came at the door.

"Lily."

Victor looked up.

She entered carefully.

She had learned something about him.

When Victor Blackwood was silent...

Something was wrong.

"What happened?"

Victor looked away.

"Nothing."

Lily frowned.

She hated that answer.

Because she knew it was a lie.

"You always say that when something is wrong."

Victor looked at her.

"And you always know when I'm lying."

A small silence.

Then Lily said:

"Someone used Isabella's voice."

Victor froze.

"You knew?"

"I saw your face."

She stepped closer.

"You looked like someone had taken something from you."

Victor said nothing.

Because she was right.

"I don't understand."

Lily whispered.

"If Isabella really knew Serena..."

Victor looked toward Ethan's room.

"Then everything we know about her death may be wrong."

The words terrified them both.

Because if Isabella's death had been built on a lie...

Then Ethan had spent his entire life surrounded by a secret.

The Hidden Plan

The next morning, Victor gathered his most trusted people.

Marcus.

Daniel.

And Lily.

The last person surprised everyone.

Especially Lily.

"I should not be here."

She said.

Victor looked at her.

"Yes, you should."

"Why?"

"Because Serena's plan involved you."

A pause.

"And I need the person she underestimated."

Lily looked uncomfortable.

"You want me to be bait."

The room went silent.

Victor didn't answer immediately.

Because she was right.

But then he said:

"No."

A pause.

"I want you to help me expose her."

The plan was simple.

Too simple.

That was why it was dangerous.

They would make Serena believe Victor had lost control.

They would make her believe Lily was leaving.

They would make her believe Ethan was vulnerable.

And Serena would come.

Because people like Serena couldn't resist victory.

"She won't just walk into a trap."

Daniel warned.

Victor looked at him.

"She will."

"Why?"

Victor's eyes hardened.

"Because she thinks she is smarter than everyone."

And that was Serena's weakness.

Her confidence.

Serena's Final Move

Serena received the information exactly as Victor expected.

A message.

A photo.

Lily leaving the Blackwood mansion.

Alone.

The message said:

Victor no longer trusts her.

Serena stared at the screen.

Then she smiled.

Finally.

After weeks of losing control...

She was winning again.

She called Adrian.

"It's happening."

Adrian was silent.

"Are you sure?"

Serena laughed.

"Victor is angry."

"Angry people make mistakes."

A pause.

"And Lily?"

Serena's smile became cold.

"She thinks she survived."

But she hasn't.

The Bait

That evening, Lily walked out of the mansion.

A small suitcase in her hand.

The staff watched.

Confused.

Some looked sad.

Some looked surprised.

Victor stood near the entrance.

His expression was cold.

Perfect acting.

"You can't stay here anymore."

Lily lowered her head.

"I understand."

Anyone watching would believe it.

A powerful man rejecting a poor nanny.

Exactly what Serena wanted to see.

But hidden cameras recorded everything.

Every word.

Every movement.

Lily walked toward the car.

Then stopped.

She turned back.

"Victor."

Everyone watched.

Including someone else.

A woman sitting in a black vehicle across the street.

Serena.

Lily looked at Victor.

"Take care of Ethan."

Victor's expression softened for one second.

Just one.

But Serena noticed.

She hated it.

Because even after everything...

Lily mattered to him.

The car drove away.

Serena waited.

One hour.

Two hours.

Then she moved.

The Kidnapping Attempt

The mansion lights turned off.

Security appeared reduced.

Everything looked perfect.

Serena entered through the west entrance.

The same entrance she had used before.

The same weakness.

The same mistake.

She moved silently.

Toward Ethan's room.

But she did not know...

Marcus was watching.

Victor was watching.

Lily was watching.

The moment Serena opened the nursery door...

The lights turned on.

She froze.

Victor stood there.

Cold.

Silent.

Behind him were security officers.

And on the screen beside him...

The entire operation was recorded.

Serena's face lost color.

"You..."

Victor stepped forward.

"You came exactly when we expected."

For the first time...

Serena looked afraid.

"You set me up."

Victor nodded.

"Yes."

A pause.

"But you gave us the evidence."

Serena looked around.

Then laughed.

A strange, desperate laugh.

"You think this proves anything?"

Victor said nothing.

Serena smiled.

"Victor..."

Her voice became softer.

"You still don't understand."

The room became silent.

"This was never about Ethan."

Victor's expression changed.

"What?"

Serena looked at him.

"I needed Ethan because he is the key."

"The key to what?"

Serena smiled.

"The truth your wife died protecting."

Victor stepped closer.

"What did Isabella know?"

Serena looked toward the hidden cameras.

Then back.

"You really think you won?"

A pause.

"Look at your own investigation."

Victor's eyes narrowed.

"What are you talking about?"

Serena laughed.

"Ask yourself why Isabella never told you the truth."

Silence.

"Ask yourself why she recorded that message."

Another pause.

"And ask yourself..."

Her smile disappeared.

"Why she was afraid of you."

The words hit Victor harder than expected.

Because somewhere deep inside...

He had wondered the same thing.

Then Serena made her final move.

She reached into her pocket.

Everyone reacted.

But she did not pull out a weapon.

She pulled out a small device.

A recording.

She pressed play.

Isabella's voice filled the room.

"Victor, if you are hearing this..."

Victor froze.

"It means I failed to protect Ethan."

Lily covered her mouth.

The recording continued.

"The person you trust most..."

A pause.

"Is the reason our family is in danger."

Everyone looked at Victor.

Serena smiled.

Because she had been waiting for this moment.

But then...

The recording changed.

A second voice appeared.

A man's voice.

Adrian.

And then Isabella whispered:

"If anything happens to me..."

"The person who saved Ethan..."

"Will not be his father."

Silence.

Victor stared at the device.

Because the recording wasn't accusing him.

It was revealing something else.

Something impossible.

Someone had been protecting Ethan all along.

Someone inside the Blackwood family.

Someone nobody suspected.

Then the mansion alarm suddenly sounded.

Marcus checked his phone.

His face changed.

"Victor..."

"What?"

Marcus looked up.

"Ethan is gone."

The room froze.

Victor turned toward the nursery.

The crib was empty.

Serena smiled.

Because the trap had never been for her.

It had been for them.

And somewhere in the darkness outside the mansion...

Someone carried Ethan away.

Someone who knew every security weakness.

Someone who knew exactly how Victor would react.

The enemy had been inside the mansion.

May you like

And Victor had just realized...

He had been looking in the wrong direction all along.
