Chapter 2: The Child Everyone Lied About

Daniel immediately canceled the engagement party.

Every guest was ordered to remain inside the ballroom.

No one was allowed to leave.

His security team locked every entrance.

Claire laughed nervously.

"Daniel...this is ridiculous."

He ignored her.

Instead, he turned to Hannah.

"When was the last time you saw Aaron?"

"The night before he died."

"He told me he'd found evidence."

Daniel's jaw tightened.

"What evidence?"

Hannah slowly reached into her apron pocket.

She removed a small flash drive.

"Aaron hid this before he disappeared."

"I've been trying to find someone I could trust."

"I was hoping..."

She looked directly at Daniel.

"...that it was you."

The room became perfectly still.

Daniel handed the flash drive to his head of security.

"Play it."

Minutes later, financial records appeared on the ballroom projector.

Millions of dollars had been transferred through shell companies.

Every transaction carried one familiar surname.

Whitlock.

Claire's breathing became uneven.

"Those records are fake."

Daniel wasn't listening anymore.

His eyes stopped on another file.

Security footage.

Timestamp...

The night Aaron died.

The video showed Aaron arguing with three men beside Warehouse Twelve.

One of them handed him an envelope.

Another pushed him.

Aaron fell backward—

Not by accident.

Someone shoved him off the loading platform.

The ballroom erupted.

Guests began whispering in horror.

Claire stumbled backward.

"This...this has nothing to do with me."

Then another name appeared.

The authorization for the payment after Aaron's death.
