Chapter 10 – The Fall of Vivienne

The Heiress They Betrayed

Chapter 10 – The Fall of Vivienne

Vivienne Laurent had always believed she was born for a better life.

She believed beauty opened doors.

Charm created opportunities.

And being chosen by the right man meant she had finally escaped an ordinary existence.

For years, she had watched powerful people from the outside.

She watched women wearing diamonds.

She watched families with inherited wealth.

She watched wives who entered rooms and immediately commanded respect.

And she wanted that world.

Not because she loved power.

Because she believed power would finally make people unable to look down on her.

When Alexander chose her, she thought fate had finally rewarded her.

She thought Elena's life had become hers.

The mansion.

The social status.

The luxury.

The title.

Everything.

But she had made one mistake.

She thought she had stolen Elena's place.

She never understood that Elena's place was never created by a man.

It was created by herself.

The first sign that something was wrong came at the charity event.

Three months earlier, Vivienne had imagined this night countless times.

She would arrive beside Alexander.

Cameras would flash.

People would whisper.

Everyone would finally accept her as the new Mrs. Crowe.

Instead...

Nobody cared.

The reporters were not waiting for her.

They were waiting for Elena.

The moment Elena entered the venue, every camera turned.

The room changed.

Executives approached her.

Investors greeted her.

Influential families surrounded her.

Vivienne stood beside Alexander and watched.

For the first time, she understood something painful.

Elena had never needed Alexander's name.

Alexander had needed Elena's.

"Don't look so nervous."

Alexander's voice interrupted her thoughts.

Vivienne forced a smile.

"I'm not nervous."

But he knew she was lying.

Because lately, everything about Vivienne felt different.

She was no longer the woman who made him feel admired.

She was the woman who constantly reminded him of everything he had lost.

"You haven't been yourself."

Vivienne looked at him.

"Neither have you."

The answer was sharper than expected.

Alexander became quiet.

Because it was true.

They were both trapped.

Two people who had destroyed something precious while believing they were gaining something better.

The next morning, Vivienne received a call.

It was her financial advisor.

She answered impatiently.

"What is it?"

The man's voice sounded nervous.

"Miss Laurent, we need to discuss your accounts."

"Why?"

"There are irregularities."

Vivienne frowned.

"What irregularities?"

"Several luxury purchases were made using credit lines connected to Crowe assets."

She looked confused.

"So?"

A pause.

"Those accounts are currently under investigation."

Her expression changed.

"What does that mean?"

"It means they may be frozen."

Vivienne stood immediately.

"How long?"

"We don't know."

The panic in his voice made her angry.

"Fix it."

"We're trying."

Again.

That word.

Trying.

Everyone was always trying now.

Nobody simply obeyed anymore.

Vivienne went directly to Alexander.

He was sitting in his office reviewing documents.

She walked in without knocking.

"My accounts are frozen."

Alexander looked up.

"What?"

"My accounts."

He stood.

"Which ones?"

"All of them connected to your company."

Alexander closed his eyes.

Because he already knew.

"This is because of Elena."

Vivienne's anger exploded.

"Of course it's because of Elena."

A pause.

"Everything is because of Elena now."

Alexander looked at her.

The bitterness in her voice was impossible to ignore.

"You knew this could happen."

Vivienne froze.

"What?"

"You knew the risks."

"No."

"You pushed me."

Her face changed.

"You told me Elena was weak."

Silence.

"You told me she had nothing."

Alexander's voice became colder.

"And I believed you."

The accusation hurt.

Because it was true.

That evening, Vivienne received another surprise.

An invitation.

Not to a social event.

A legal meeting.

With Elena Valmont.

She almost refused.

Almost.

But curiosity was stronger.

She wanted answers.

She wanted to know how a woman she had considered inferior had become untouchable.

Valmont Tower.

The same place where Alexander had stood powerless.

Now Vivienne sat across from Elena.

The difference between them was obvious.

Elena looked calm.

Vivienne looked desperate.

"I know why you're here."

Elena spoke first.

Vivienne crossed her arms.

"Do you?"

"Yes."

A pause.

"You want to know why everything is falling apart."

Vivienne smiled bitterly.

"You took everything."

Elena looked at her.

"No."

"Then what happened?"

Elena answered quietly.

"You built your life on something that was never yours."

The words angered Vivienne.

"You think you're better than me?"

"No."

Elena's answer surprised her.

"I think I was like you once."

Vivienne frowned.

"What?"

"I believed being chosen by someone powerful meant I had value."

The room became silent.

"But I was wrong."

Elena looked directly at her.

"Your value cannot come from the person standing beside you."

Vivienne looked away.

Because she hated that the words affected her.

"I need your help."

The request shocked Elena.

"With what?"

Vivienne hesitated.

Then finally admitted:

"Richard."

Elena's expression changed.

"You know something."

Vivienne nodded slowly.

"I didn't understand it before."

"Explain."

"Richard used me."

Elena waited.

"He encouraged me to get close to Alexander."

The silence became heavy.

"Why?"

Vivienne swallowed.

"Because he wanted Alexander distracted."

Elena's eyes narrowed.

"From what?"

"From the company."

A pause.

"From the financial problems."

Another pause.

"From the investigation."

The pieces began connecting.

Richard had not simply approved of the affair.

He had used it.

He needed Alexander emotionally unstable.

He needed Elena isolated.

He needed the marriage destroyed.

Vivienne looked down.

"I thought I was winning."

Her voice became quieter.

"I thought Elena was the obstacle."

A tear appeared in her eyes.

"But I was just another piece on his chessboard."

That night, Elena investigated every detail Vivienne provided.

And she found something.

A hidden connection.

A series of payments.

A private account.

A name.

Richard Crowe.

But beneath it...

Another name appeared.

A name Elena had not expected.

Marcus entered her office.

"You found something?"

Elena looked up.

"Yes."

"What?"

She turned the screen toward him.

Marcus froze.

Because the evidence revealed something impossible.

Richard was not the mastermind.

He was working for someone else.

Someone who had been hidden for years.

Someone who had access to the entire Crowe family.

Meanwhile, Vivienne returned to the mansion.

But it no longer felt like home.

She walked through the halls where she once imagined herself as queen.

Now she saw something different.

A borrowed crown.

A borrowed life.

A borrowed identity.

Alexander stood at the entrance.

"We need to talk."

Vivienne looked at him.

"About what?"

"Everything."

She smiled sadly.

"You mean the truth?"

Alexander said nothing.

Because he knew.

For months, Vivienne had been his escape.

But now they both had to face reality.

They had not destroyed Elena because they hated her.

They destroyed her because they underestimated her.

The next morning, another headline appeared.

"VIVIENNE LAURENT LINKED TO CROWE FINANCIAL SCANDAL."

The story spread everywhere.

Her name was everywhere.

But not the way she dreamed.

She was no longer known as Alexander Crowe's future queen.

She was known as the woman who helped destroy his empire.

Vivienne stared at the article.

For the first time, she felt the same humiliation Elena had felt.

The same judgment.

The same whispers.

The same isolation.

And she finally understood.

The woman she tried to replace had survived something much worse.

At Valmont Tower, Elena looked over the final investigation report.

Marcus stood beside her.

"The next step?"

Elena closed the file.

"We expose the truth."

"And Alexander?"

She was silent for a moment.

Then answered:

"Alexander has already lost his empire."

A pause.

"But the person who created this disaster..."

Her eyes hardened.

"...has not lost anything yet."

Outside, thunder rolled across the city.

Because the fall of Vivienne was only the beginning.

The real enemy was still standing.

And soon...

The entire world would discover the secret that had been buried for decades.
