Chapter 7: The Sister Who Wanted Her Crown

Chapter 7: The Sister Who Wanted Her Crown

Evelyn Voss always believed the world belonged to her.

She believed beauty was power.

She believed wealth was protection.

She believed the Voss name was a crown placed on her head the moment she was born.

And for most of her life...

Nobody dared tell her otherwise.

Until I returned.

Because my existence was the one thing Evelyn could never control.

She could buy designer dresses.

She could purchase influence.

She could make strangers admire her.

But she could never buy what I had earned.

Respect.

And that was the reason she hated me.

The Golden Daughter

Growing up, Evelyn was everything my family wanted to display.

Elegant.

Charming.

Perfect.

She knew exactly how to behave at charity events.

She knew how to smile for cameras.

She knew how to make powerful people feel important.

My father loved introducing her.

"This is my daughter Evelyn."

Always proudly.

Always with a smile.

But when people asked about me...

The answer was different.

"Celeste is difficult."

"Celeste is stubborn."

"Celeste doesn't understand responsibility."

The truth was simple.

Evelyn knew how to perform the Voss image.

I knew how to protect people.

And my father could never decide which mattered more.

Until I chose the military.

Then he decided.

I was the daughter who had failed.

The Crown She Thought Was Hers

The day after my return, Evelyn appeared on every news channel.

Not because she wanted to defend me.

Because she wanted to control the story.

She stood outside the Voss mansion.

Perfect hair.

Perfect makeup.

Perfect sadness.

"Celeste has always been emotional," she told reporters.

"I think everyone understands that she has been through a lot."

The words sounded compassionate.

But I understood Evelyn.

That was not sympathy.

That was an insult disguised as kindness.

She was telling the world:

My sister is damaged.

My sister is unstable.

My sister cannot lead.

She had been doing it for years.

And now she was afraid the world would finally hear my side.

The Confrontation

I found Evelyn in the private garden behind the mansion.

The same garden where we played as children.

The same place where she once promised she would always protect me.

Funny how some promises disappear when money enters the room.

She did not turn around when she heard me.

"I wondered how long it would take you to come."

I stopped.

"You expected me?"

She smiled.

"I know you."

"No."

I replied.

"You knew who I was."

A pause.

"You don't know who I became."

That annoyed her.

Because it was true.

The Confession

Evelyn turned toward me.

For the first time, she dropped the perfect mask.

"You think you are better than me."

I frowned.

"I never said that."

"You didn't have to."

Her voice became sharper.

"Everyone always looked at you differently."

I remained silent.

"You were father's challenge."

"What?"

She laughed bitterly.

"Do you think I didn't notice?"

She stepped closer.

"Father respected you."

The words surprised me.

"He was angry with you because you were the only one who could disagree with him."

A pause.

"Julian obeyed him."

"Mother admired him."

"But you..."

Her expression changed.

"You were the only person who made him question himself."

The Jealous Sister

I never realized it before.

Evelyn was not jealous of my success.

She was jealous of my freedom.

She had everything.

But everything belonged to the Voss family.

Her clothes.

Her house.

Her reputation.

Her entire identity.

She had never been allowed to be herself.

While I walked away and created my own life.

"You left."

Evelyn whispered.

"And everyone missed you."

I looked at her.

"Did you?"

She looked away.

That silence answered everything.

The Secret Alliance

Then Evelyn said something unexpected.

"Father never told you about the investor agreement, did he?"

My expression changed.

"What agreement?"

She smiled.

"Exactly."

I studied her carefully.

"You know something."

"I know many things."

"Then why are you telling me?"

Her eyes became cold.

"Because I am tired of being invisible."

The Daughter Behind the Curtain

Evelyn revealed something I never expected.

For years, my father used her public image to hide his private deals.

Charity events.

Political connections.

International partnerships.

Everything went through Evelyn.

But she received none of the power.

She was the face.

Never the decision-maker.

"Father promised me control."

She said.

"He promised me a position on the board."

"He promised me I would be the future of Voss Maritime."

I looked at her.

"And?"

She laughed.

"He gave everything to Julian."

The Dangerous Truth

Evelyn walked closer.

"You think Julian is your ally."

I said nothing.

"He is scared."

"Everyone is scared."

"No."

She shook her head.

"Julian is hiding something."

That got my attention.

"What?"

Evelyn hesitated.

Then whispered:

"Before you came back, Julian signed something."

"Something father needed."

I felt a chill.

"What did he sign?"

Evelyn looked at me.

"The final transfer agreement."

The Sister's Choice

I returned to my office that night thinking about Evelyn.

She was not innocent.

She watched me suffer.

She tore my uniform.

She laughed at my scars.

But she was also trapped.

A prisoner inside the same empire that destroyed me.

And that made her dangerous.

Because desperate people were unpredictable.

Later that night, my phone received a message.

Unknown number.

"You should not trust your sister."

A second message arrived.

"She is not helping you. She is trying to replace you."

I stared at the screen.

Because the question was no longer whether Evelyn wanted my crown.

The question was:

How far would she go to take it?

And the answer would determine whether the Voss family survived...

May you like

or destroyed itself completely.
