CHAPTER 15 — THE LAST SECRET

CHAPTER 15 — THE LAST SECRET

The message appeared on the screen.

Only one sentence.

YOU FOUND THE CHILD.

A pause.

Then the second line.

BUT YOU NEVER FOUND THE CREATOR.

Nobody spoke.

Because everyone thought they understood the story.

They thought the enemy had a name.

Esteban Velasco.

Rafael Velasco.

Victor Salazar.

Elena Salazar.

They thought Genesis was created by people who wanted power.

But now there was another possibility.

A terrifying one.

What if all of them had only been continuing something that existed before them?

The safe house became silent.

Not peaceful.

Never peaceful.

Everyone knew the pattern now.

Every time they believed they reached the end

another door opened.

Another secret waited.

NicolĂĄs stared at the message.

“Trace it.”

The security team immediately began working.

But Nico stopped them.

“No.”

Everyone looked at him.

“You know something.”

The young man looked at the phone.

“I have seen this message before.”

SofĂa stepped closer.

“When?”

Nico hesitated.

“Before I met Elena.”

The room changed.

Because Nico was the last person connected to Genesis who had not revealed his entire story.

NicolĂĄs looked at him.

“Tell us.”

Nico looked at Mateo sleeping nearby.

Then began.

“When I was a child, Elena told me Genesis started with Esteban Velasco.”

A pause.

“I believed her.”

“But?”

“But she was afraid of someone.”

SofĂa frowned.

“Elena was afraid?”

Nico nodded.

“Yes.”

The woman who controlled laboratories.

The woman who continued experiments.

The woman who believed she was above everyone.

She had been afraid.

“Who?”

Nico answered:

“She never said his name.”

A pause.

“But she called him
”

He swallowed.

“The Architect.”

Nobody moved.

“The Architect?”

Nico nodded.

“She said he created the idea before anyone created Genesis.”

Alejandro looked disturbed.

“Then why did Esteban get credit?”

“Because Esteban had money.”

Nico looked at the old files.

“Rafael had ambition.”

“Elena had knowledge.”

A pause.

“But the Architect had the plan.”

They searched the remaining Genesis records.

Most were destroyed.

Most were incomplete.

But one file remained.

Hidden deeper than all others.

No name.

No date.

Only one title.

ORIGIN.

NicolĂĄs opened it.

The first page contained a photograph.

Everyone froze.

Because the photograph was not of Esteban.

Not Rafael.

Not Elena.

Not Victor.

It was older.

Much older.

A group of researchers.

And standing in the middle

was a woman.

An elderly woman.

Leonor.

The room became silent.

NicolĂĄs slowly turned.

His mother looked away.

“Mother
”

Leonor closed her eyes.

“I knew this day would come.”

SofĂa felt betrayed.

“You knew?”

Leonor looked at her.

“Yes.”

“How?”

A long silence.

Then Leonor answered:

“Because I was there.”

The truth finally came out.

Before Genesis became a Velasco project

before the laboratories

before the experiments

there was a smaller research program.

A scientific study about human adaptation.

It was not created to hurt people.

It began with a different purpose.

Understanding rare biological conditions.

Helping children.

Saving lives.

Leonor was one of the researchers.

Young.

Brilliant.

Idealistic.

But then powerful people discovered the research.

People who did not want to heal.

They wanted to control.

“Esteban found the research.”

Leonor looked at NicolĂĄs.

“He saw possibilities.”

“What possibilities?”

“That people could be shaped.”

Her voice became heavy.

“He turned medicine into a weapon.”

NicolĂĄs looked away.

“And you let him.”

Leonor nodded.

“Yes.”

No excuses.

No defense.

Just the truth.

“I thought I could control it.”

A bitter smile.

“I was wrong.”

SofĂa looked at the files.

“So who is the Architect?”

Leonor stared at the photograph.

“I don't know.”

Everyone was shocked.

“You don't know?”

“No.”

She looked afraid.

“The Architect disappeared before Genesis officially began.”

Nico stepped forward.

“But he left instructions.”

Leonor looked at him.

“Yes.”

A pause.

“Enough instructions for decades.”

The final file opened.

Inside were recordings.

Old recordings.

The first voice was distorted.

But everyone heard the same thing.

A calm voice.

A voice that did not sound angry.

A voice that sounded certain.

“Human beings are not shaped by comfort.”

A pause.

“They are shaped by pressure.”

The recording continued.

“Pain reveals potential.”

SofĂa clenched her fists.

“No.”

The voice continued.

“The goal is not to create stronger children.”

A pause.

“The goal is to understand what survives.”

The recording ended.

Then the last file appeared.

A name.

Not a person.

A location.

PROJECT ORIGIN — ACTIVE

NicolĂĄs stared.

“Active?”

Everyone understood.

Genesis was not finished.

It had never been finished.

The laboratories they destroyed.

The companies they exposed.

The people they defeated.

They were only branches.

The root remained.

Days passed.

The Velasco scandal became global.

The world learned the truth.

NicolĂĄs lost his empire.

His companies.

His influence.

The name Velasco became associated with shame.

But something unexpected happened.

People who survived Genesis began coming forward.

Former subjects.

Former employees.

Children who were never found.

The victims finally had voices.

And NicolĂĄs helped them.

Not with money.

Not with power.

With the truth.

Months later, the Velasco mansion was sold.

The place where so many secrets lived became someone else's property.

The hidden rooms were destroyed.

The laboratories were removed.

The walls that protected lies finally disappeared.

SofĂa visited one last time.

She stood in the empty nursery.

The room where everything started.

Mateo was older now.

Healthy.

Laughing.

No longer afraid of touch.

No longer afraid of the world.

NicolĂĄs stood beside her.

“He's different.”

SofĂa smiled.

“He's free.”

A pause.

“That's what you wanted, right?”

NicolĂĄs looked at his son.

“Yes.”

Alejandro rebuilt his life.

Not as a Velasco.

Not as an experiment.

As himself.

He dedicated his time to helping Genesis survivors.

Because he understood something nobody else could.

A person was not defined by what was done to them.

Only by what they chose afterward.

Nico Salazar stayed with them.

At first, it was difficult.

He did not know how to be a son.

NicolĂĄs did not know how to be a father.

They were both learning.

Slowly.

Painfully.

Honestly.

But they tried.

And that was something Genesis never predicted.

Because Genesis studied survival.

It studied fear.

It studied pain.

But it never understood love.

One year later.

A small house far from the city.

No guards.

No cameras.

No walls.

Mateo played in the garden.

SofĂa watched him.

NicolĂĄs sat nearby.

For the first time in decades

he was not building an empire.

He was building a family.

Then Nico's phone rang.

Everyone froze.

Because they all knew.

Old fears returned.

New secrets.

Another threat.

Nico answered.

Listened.

Then his expression changed.

SofĂa noticed.

“What is it?”

He looked at them.

“It’s from the Architect.”

Silence.

NicolĂĄs stood.

“What did he say?”

Nico looked at the message.

Only three words.

THE BEGINNING RETURNS.

The wind moved through the garden.

Mateo laughed.

A normal sound.

A beautiful sound.

A sound they once thought they would never hear.

NicolĂĄs looked at his family.

Then at the phone.

The past was not finished.

The enemy was still out there.

But this time

they were not hiding.

Because the biggest mistake Genesis ever made

was creating survivors who learned how to love.

May you like

And that was something no experiment could control.

THE END.
