CHAPTER 4 – A Home Restored

CHAPTER 4 – A Home Restored
The months that followed were not easy.
Healing never happened overnight.
Emma woke from nightmares.
Her brothers flinched whenever an adult raised a hand too quickly.
Nathan canceled nearly every overseas business trip.
For the first time since founding Harrington Global, his calendar became less important than bedtime stories.
He attended therapy with his children.
He learned how trauma sounded.
How trust returned one small promise at a time.
The basement was permanently demolished.
In its place, Nathan built a bright family library filled with books, music, and sunlight.
He wanted the darkest room in the house to become its warmest.
One afternoon, nearly a year later, Emma handed him a drawing.
It showed four people standing beneath a huge tree.
Nathan smiled.
"Who's this?"
Emma pointed.
"That's you."
"And these?"
"My brothers."
He noticed there was one person missing.
"Where's Mommy?"
Emma thought quietly before answering.
"We don't need scary people in happy pictures."
Nathan hugged all three children.
Tears filled his eyes.
He finally understood that being a successful billionaire had never been his greatest achievement.
His greatest responsibility was simply being the father his children deserved.
