“Move!” Adrian barked.

Tables overturned.

Glass shattered.

Customers screamed and dropped to the floor as trained men flooded the space.

Emma instinctively pulled the baby closer to her chest, shielding him.

But Adrian grabbed her arm.

“Stay with me,” he said sharply. Not a request. An order meant for survival.

She didn’t argue.

She couldn’t.

Because she finally understood—

The baby had never been the target.

He was the signal.

A lure.

A way to bring Adrian into one controlled space.

Emma’s voice shook slightly. “Who would do this?”

Adrian didn’t look at her when he answered.

“Someone who knows me well enough to know I would never ignore my child crying.”

A cold realization passed between them.
