CHAPTER 1: The Name That Stopped the Hallway

CHAPTER 1: The Name That Stopped the Hallway
The emergency room doors slammed open so hard they bounced back.
“Help! Please—she’s bleeding!”
A man stumbled inside, soaked in sweat, arms trembling as he held a small girl against his chest. Blood had spread across her white T-shirt like a dark, spreading map.
Nurses rushed forward instantly.
“Trauma bay two!”
But before anyone could take her, a calm voice cut through the chaos.
“Bring her here.”
A pregnant doctor stepped forward, white coat slightly unbuttoned at the waist, hands already gloved. Her presence didn’t match the urgency around her—she moved like the storm had already been contained.
She leaned down gently, brushing hair from the child’s forehead.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. I’ve got you now.”
The girl whimpered, gripping her father’s shirt tighter.
The doctor looked up.
“Vitals?”
A nurse answered quickly, “Pulse weak, possible internal bleeding—”
But the father wasn’t listening anymore.
He was staring at her face.
Something in his expression cracked.
Then she said her name.
“Dr. Adllidine. I’ll be leading this case.”
The sound hit him like a physical blow.
His breath stopped.
His arms loosened slightly.
“No…” he whispered.
The doctor froze mid-motion.
Her eyes lifted slowly to his.
And in that instant—
the entire hallway went silent.

Not because the noise stopped.
But because everything else disappeared.
