PART 2 — The Text That Stopped the Wedding

PART 2 — The Text That Stopped the Wedding

The moment my best friend grabbed my wrist, I knew something was wrong.

Not nervous-bride wrong.

Not cold feet wrong.

Something far sharper.

“Claire,” she whispered, pulling me behind the marble column near the chapel doors. “You need to see this. Right now.”

I frowned, glancing back toward the aisle.

“Lena, I can’t just—”

She shoved her phone into my hand.

One message.

No greeting.

Just a file attachment and a single line from an unknown number:

Ask him what happened in Zurich in 2019.

My stomach dropped before I even opened it.

The file loaded.

Then—

A marriage certificate.

Not mine.

His.

My fiancé.

Thomas Whitmore.

Except the name on the certificate wasn’t Whitmore.

It was Thomas Keller.

And the bride listed?

Not me.

Three different women.

Three different countries.

Three separate dates.

My breath caught as I scrolled.

Property transfers.

Debt records.

Bank liens.

And a frozen offshore account trail routed through shell companies I had only seen in business school case studies.

My hands started shaking.

“This isn’t funny,” I whispered.

Lena’s voice broke. “I wish it was.”

May you like

She pointed toward the altar.

“He’s not who you think he is.”
