That evening Blake sat alone in his Chicago hotel suite.
The city lights stretched endlessly outside.
Yet all he could see were three little faces.
He opened an old encrypted folder on his laptop.

Slowly he reread them.
Then something caught his eye.

An email chain.
His heart stopped.
He immediately called his former chief investigator.
Two hours later the answer arrived.

Never inappropriate.

They were discussions involving a confidential environmental project Emma had been leading.
The man Blake believed was her lover had actually been a government consultant under a strict nondisclosure agreement.
Emma had been telling the truth.

Blake stared at the report.

The next morning he drove to Emma's estate outside Chicago.
When she opened the door, she immediately knew.
"You found out."
Blake nodded.
Tears filled his eyes.
"I'm sorry."
Emma remained silent.
"I'm so sorry."
For a long moment neither spoke.
Then three small voices echoed from inside.
"Mom!"
The boys appeared in the hallway.
They stopped when they saw Blake.
Curious.
Uncertain.
Hopeful.
Blake dropped to one knee.
His voice trembled.
"Hi."
The youngest boy tilted his head.
"Are you the man from the airport?"
Blake laughed through tears.
"Yeah."
A pause.
Then the question he feared most arrived.
"Who are you?"
The billionaire closed his eyes.
Every success.
Every award.
Every fortune.
None of it mattered now.
Only this.
Only them.
When he finally answered, his voice broke.
"I'm your father."
Silence filled the room.
Then Liam smiled.
A small, innocent smile.
The kind only children can give.
"Okay."
