For a moment, the room waited for her reaction.
Tears.
Shouting.
Anything.
But she just nodded slightly, as if confirming something only she understood.
Her husband frowned. “What? No speech?”
A few guests chuckled again, relieved.
She reached into the pocket of her sweater.
Pulled out her phone.
The laughter dimmed, but only slightly.
“You’re really going to call someone?” he said. “In front of everyone?”
She didn’t answer.
Her thumb pressed one button.
That was it.
No drama.
No warning.
Just a single tap.
She looked up at him.
Directly.
Calmly.
And said:
“You just made a very expensive mistake.”
His smile twitched. “What does that even—”
The sound started before he finished.
A phone ringing.
