Chapter 2: The Woman They Never Identified

No one moved.

The ballroom, moments earlier filled with laughter, had become a prison of silence.

The man who had struck her glanced wildly toward the sealed exits.

"This is illegal!" he shouted.

"You can't trap us here!"

She calmly adjusted the torn sleeve of her evening gown.

"I didn't."

"My family did."

A line of black-uniformed security officers entered through a hidden corridor behind the stage.

They moved with military precision, surrounding the ballroom within seconds.

The lead officer stopped in front of her.

"Miss Hart."

"The estate is secured."

Every guest stared.

Someone whispered,

"Hart...?"

Another guest slowly turned pale.

"The Hart family owns this estate..."

"And half the city."

Her attacker took a step backward.

"You... you're Evelyn Hart?"

She nodded once.

"I wondered how long it would take."

The room erupted into nervous murmurs.

For years, Evelyn had avoided public attention, preferring to oversee the Hart Foundation instead of appearing on magazine covers beside her billionaire father.

Most people knew the Hart name.

Almost no one knew her face.

Her attacker suddenly forced a smile.

"This is all a misunderstanding."

Evelyn looked directly into his eyes.

"You slammed me into a marble wall."

"You called that a misunderstanding?"

The smile vanished.

The lead security officer lifted a tablet.

"Miss Hart, every camera in this ballroom has been recording."

He tapped the screen.

The footage appeared instantly on the massive display above the stage.

Every guest watched in silence as the video replayed the assault from three different angles.
