The room fell silent as the syringe rolled to the edge of the crib.
Everyone looked at Mara.
Beatrice pointed accusingly.
"She's the one who planted it!"
Mara didn't answer.
Instead, she looked toward Daniel.
"The second camera."
Daniel nodded.
"I think it's time."
He opened an app on his tablet.
Unlike the obvious nursery camera everyone knew about, a tiny backup camera had been hidden inside the smoke detector months earlier.
The recording began.
At 1:47 a.m., Mara entered the nursery carrying Leo's medication.
She checked the bottle.
Her expression immediately changed.
Instead of giving the medicine, she quietly placed the bottle into a sealed evidence bag from the first-aid cabinet she always carried.
She removed another identical bottle from her medical kit.
Only then did she leave.
The room became silent.
