The silence inside the mansion was so complete that the grandfather clock in the foyer suddenly seemed deafening.
Lauren held Noah tightly against her chest.
His tiny fingers clung to the back of her gray uniform.
"I'm here," she whispered. "I'm here."
Ethan stared at her.
His face had lost every trace of color.
"You... can't be."
Vanessa stepped between them.
"Ethan, she's lying."
Lauren slowly lifted her eyes.
"I'm not Clara."
She swallowed.
"My name is Lauren Hayes."

But Noah shook his head immediately.
