Jasper returned from lunch smiling.
Until he reached the apartment building.
The luxury SUV was gone.
A uniformed driver was loading its registration documents into another vehicle.
"What are you doing?" Jasper demanded.
"The vehicle is being returned to its registered owner."
"What owner?"
"The Robertson family."
Jasper laughed nervously.
"That's my wife's car."
The driver calmly handed him a certified copy of the title.
Registered Owner:
Robertson Global Holdings
His name appeared nowhere.
His smile disappeared.
Minutes later, his phone began ringing.
The first call came from his bank.
His company's newest investment round had been suspended.
The second came from his largest investor.
"We've decided not to proceed."
"May I ask why?"
There was a long pause.
"Because we learned you deliberately mistreated the daughter of the person whose reputation convinced us to meet with you in the first place."
Within forty-eight hours, three major investors withdrew.
