Richard watched Arthur lower the satellite phone.
"You really expect me to believe that?" he asked with a smirk.
"You make one mysterious phone call and suddenly the world's supposed to change?"
Arthur didn't answer.
He gently fastened Lily's seat belt.
"Stay here."
She grabbed his wrist.
"Don't go back in there."
"I won't be long."
At that moment, every phone inside the Whitmore estate vibrated.
Board members.
Guests.
Executives.
Even Margaret glanced down at her screen.
One after another, smiles disappeared.
Richard frowned as he unlocked his own phone.
Across the display appeared a single notification.
FEDERAL ASSET PRESERVATION ORDER RECEIVED.
His expression hardened.
"What is this?"
A second alert arrived.
DO NOT DESTROY OR REMOVE CORPORATE RECORDS.
Then a third.
FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS ARE EN ROUTE.
