The dining room fell silent.
Doña Esther smiled.
"Is your wife finally acting normal?"
He placed the recorder on the table.
Pressed play.
Their own voices echoed through the room.
Every insult.
Every threat.
Every cruel laugh.
Marcela's smile disappeared.
Doña Esther reached toward the recorder.
Alejandro stopped her.
"No."
"You've talked long enough."
His father slowly removed his glasses.
He had never heard his family speak that way.
Neither had Alejandro.
Because he had never listened.
"I trusted both of you."
He looked at his mother.
