Chapter 5: Home Again

Chapter 5: Home Again

Six months later...

A little girl slept peacefully in her mother's arms.

Healthy.

Safe.

Far from the Aranda mansion.

Alejandro and Valeria had moved into a quiet home near Coyoacán.

Close to the museum where Valeria had once restored centuries-old paintings.

One afternoon, Alejandro watched her smile for the first time in years as she rocked their daughter.

"I'm sorry," he said softly.

"I should have believed you before I saw the evidence."

Valeria looked at him for a long moment.

"You didn't fail because you didn't know."

"You failed because you chose comfort over asking why I was afraid."

He nodded.

She was right.

Some wounds were caused by cruel words.

Others...

By silence.

Alejandro spent the following years rebuilding trust one day at a time.

Not with expensive gifts.

Not with promises.

With consistent actions.

He never again dismissed her fears.

He never again allowed anyone to speak to her with cruelty.

Because he finally understood that protecting a family isn't measured by the size of the house you provide—

It's measured by whether the people inside it feel safe enough to call it home.

The End.
