Chapter 2: The Truth Behind the Mansion Walls
Alexander removed his tailored cashmere jacket and gently placed it over Emma's shaking shoulders.
"It's cold," he said softly.
"For the first time in weeks, someone looked at her as if she mattered."
Victoria quickly stepped forward.
"Sir, she's lying. She's lazy, careless, and constantly breaks the rules. We've been disciplining her."
Alexander didn't even look at her.
Instead, he asked Emma one question.
"When was your last full meal?"
Emma hesitated.
"...Three days ago."
The executive chef nearly dropped the tray in his hands.
Several housekeepers lowered their heads.
None of them had dared speak before.
Now one of them whispered,
"She's telling the truth."
Another stepped forward.
"So is everything else."
Within minutes, years of fear spilled into the open.
Unpaid overtime.
Illegal wage deductions.
Threats.
Verbal abuse.
Destroyed employment records.
Security footage mysteriously deleted.
Alexander listened without interrupting.
Then he called his legal director.
"Seal every payroll record."
He turned to the head of security.
"No one leaves this estate."
Victoria's confidence finally cracked.
"You can't believe servants over me!"
Alexander finally met her eyes.
"I don't."
"I believe evidence."
At that moment, the IT director entered carrying a tablet.

"We recovered the deleted camera files, sir."
Victoria's face turned white.
