One year later, Evelyn stood before a class of young entrepreneurs.

She rolled up the sleeve covering the scar on her shoulder.

No one looked away.

No one pitied her.

They listened.

"This scar doesn't remind me of what I lost," she said.

"It reminds me that someone tried to convince me I would never recover."

She paused, smiling.

"They were wrong."

Outside, the city shimmered beneath the evening sky.

New companies were growing.

New leaders were emerging.

New stories were beginning.

Some people spend their lives hiding their scars.

Others discover that scars become maps—showing exactly how far they've traveled.

The strongest thing a person can do is stop pretending they were never hurt.
