Five minutes later, Victor returned carrying a decorative white storage box patterned with tiny blue flowers.
Claire recognized it immediately.
Exactly where she'd left it weeks earlier.
Vanessa folded her arms.
"This is ridiculous."
Victor placed the box on a grand piano.
Alessandro lifted the lid himself.
Inside wasn't what most people expected.
There was no evidence supporting Vanessa's speech.
Instead...
there were forged financial documents.
Blank trust agreements.
Multiple passports.
A flash drive.
And several envelopes containing bearer bonds worth millions.
The ballroom fell silent.
One attorney standing near the front whispered,
