Chapter 2: The Chase Through Madrid

Adrián's voice shook with disbelief.

"What have you done?"

Doña Victoria folded her arms, refusing to apologize.

"I saved you from making the biggest mistake of your life."

He held the agreement in front of her.

"You forged a plan to separate me from my own child."

"I protected the Luján name."

"No," Adrián replied, his eyes burning with anger. "You protected your pride."

Without another word, he rushed out of the mansion.

The streets of Madrid were crowded beneath the afternoon sun.

Adrián called Elena over and over.

No answer.

He drove to her apartment.

Empty.

He went to the flower shop where she worked part-time.

Her manager sighed.

"She quit this morning."

He felt panic creeping into his chest.

The woman he loved had disappeared.

Meanwhile, Elena checked into a small boarding house on the edge of the city.

It wasn't luxurious.

The wallpaper was peeling, and the furniture was old.

But for the first time in weeks, nobody looked at her with judgment.

The elderly owner, Rosa, smiled warmly.

"You look exhausted, dear."

Elena forced a smile.

"I'm just trying to find somewhere my baby can be safe."

Rosa gently touched her shoulder.

"Then you've come to the right place."

That night Elena cried herself to sleep.

Not because she had lost Adrián.

But because her son had lost the chance to know the father she believed he deserved.

Back at the mansion, Adrián searched his mother's office.

Inside a locked drawer he found copies of the agreement...

Bank transfer records...

Private investigators' reports...

Even emails proving Victoria had been monitoring Elena for months.

His heart sank.

His mother hadn't simply distrusted Elena.

She had planned to destroy her.

When Victoria entered the office, she froze.

"You had no right to go through my things."

Adrián slowly looked up.

"You had no right to destroy my family."

For the first time in his life, he walked past his mother without asking for permission.

And for the first time...

She realized she was losing her son.
