Chapter 3: The Birth That Changed Everything

Chapter 3: The Birth That Changed Everything
Three months later...
A violent autumn storm covered Madrid.
Lightning flashed across the sky as Elena was rushed into the hospital.
Her labor had begun six weeks early.
The doctors moved quickly.
"The baby's heartbeat is dropping!"
Inside the delivery room, Elena fought through unbearable pain.
Outside, Rosa desperately searched through Elena's phone.
There was only one contact she hadn't called.
Adrián.
Her hands trembled as she pressed the button.
Across town, Adrián was sitting alone in his empty penthouse.
Since that terrible day, he had left the family mansion.
He had refused every business meeting arranged by his mother.
His phone rang.
"Mr. Luján?"
"Yes."
"This is Rosa. Elena is giving birth."
The world stopped.
Twenty minutes later he burst into the hospital.
"Where is she?"
The nurse pointed toward the operating room.
"There have been complications."
Adrián stood frozen outside the doors.
Every second felt like an hour.
He whispered through tears,
"Please... don't leave me before I can say I'm sorry."
At dawn...
A doctor finally walked out.
"The surgery was successful."
Adrián could barely breathe.
"And the baby?"
The doctor smiled.
"A healthy little boy."
Moments later, he entered Elena's room.
She looked weak but peaceful.
In her arms rested a tiny baby wrapped in a white blanket.
Adrián slowly approached.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"I failed both of you."
Elena looked into his eyes for a long moment.
"I didn't need a perfect man."
"I only needed an honest one."
She gently placed the baby into his arms.
The little boy wrapped his tiny fingers around Adrián's thumb.
