CHAPTER 2 — THE BOARDROOM

CHAPTER 2 — THE BOARDROOM
The black SUV pulled away before anyone inside the mansion found the courage to follow.
Isabella never looked back.
Her assistant, Daniel, handed her a tablet.
"The emergency board meeting is ready, ma'am."
She glanced at the screen.
Every director was present.
Every legal document had been prepared.
Every vote had already been verified.
Lucas had spent years believing he was the face of Bennett Holdings.
He had never realized he was only the employee.
Twenty minutes later, Isabella entered the executive boardroom.
Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the city skyline.
The directors stood as she walked in.
"Good evening, Ms. Hart."
Not Mrs. Bennett.
Ms. Hart.
Her own name.
Her own identity.
She smiled politely.
"Let's begin."
The company attorney slid a folder across the polished table.
"Based on the shareholder agreement, the majority owner has exercised her voting rights."
The first resolution passed unanimously.
Lucas Bennett was immediately removed as Chief Executive Officer.
The second vote followed.
Richard Bennett was dismissed as Chairman of the Board.
The third.
All company accounts under their direct authority were frozen pending a financial audit.
No applause.
No celebration.
Just signatures.

Within twelve minutes, the empire Lucas had claimed as his own legally belonged to the people who had actually built it.
And Isabella had always been one of them.
