CHAPTER 4 — A DIFFERENT KIND OF FAMILY

CHAPTER 4 — A DIFFERENT KIND OF FAMILY
Months later, Sofia moved into her own condominium.
The same home she had refused to surrender.
Her name remained on every document.
Exactly as before.
One Sunday afternoon, she invited Elena and Alexander over for dinner.
The meal was simple.
Homemade soup.
Fresh bread.
Laughter that had been missing for years.
Alexander looked around the apartment.
"I missed too much."
Elena smiled gently.
"You can't change yesterday."
"No."
He looked at Sofia.
"But I'd like to be here for tomorrow."
She reached across the table and took both her parents' hands.
"For the first time..."
"It feels like I have my family back."
Alexander laughed quietly.
"Not the family we planned."
Sofia smiled.
"The one we chose."
The wedding had lasted only a few hours.
The marriage ended almost as quickly.
But something unexpected began that same night.
Two parents who had spent years apart stood together when their daughter needed them most.
And Sofia discovered that home was never defined by a ceremony, a marriage certificate, or a shared last name.
Home was the place where someone opened the door at three in the morning...
May you like
...and never once asked whether you deserved to come in.
The End.
