Chapter 6 – Easter One Year Later

Chapter 6 – Easter One Year Later

One year later, the small farmhouse smelled of fresh bread, roasted ham, and spring flowers.

Children searched for Easter eggs across the front yard.

This time, Lily laughed with them.

The bruises had healed long ago.

So had many wounds that couldn't be seen.

Richard's criminal and civil cases had been resolved through the courts based on witness testimony, authenticated recordings, financial evidence, and lawful investigations.

Justice had not come because one man demanded it.

It came because the evidence spoke clearly, and people who had once remained silent finally chose to tell the truth.

Arthur carried two mugs of coffee onto the porch.

Lily smiled.

"You know, Easter doesn't scare me anymore."

He looked across the yard where children were laughing in the warm afternoon sun.

"It shouldn't."

"Easter is about hope."

"It's about believing that even after the darkest day... life can begin again."

Lily rested her head on her father's shoulder.

For fifteen years, Arthur had believed he buried the strongest part of himself.

He was wrong.

He hadn't buried it.

He had simply saved it for the day his daughter needed it most.

Sometimes the greatest strength isn't found in power, influence, or secrets from the past.

Sometimes it is found in a father who refuses to stop protecting his child, a daughter who finds the courage to speak, and ordinary people who decide that silence will no longer protect wrongdoing.

And that Easter, as the evening sun settled beyond the trees, Arthur realized that justice had never been about destroying an empire.

It had always been about giving his daughter something far more valuable:

May you like

A future where she no longer had to live in fear.

The End.
