Chapter 10 – The Phone Call That Changed Everything

Chapter 10 – The Phone Call That Changed Everything

A year later, I visited the old mansion one last time.

It no longer belonged to Adrian.

It had been sold during bankruptcy proceedings.

The marble floor had been replaced.

The chandelier was gone.

Only memories remained.

I stood in the empty foyer where I had once knelt in pain.

Then my phone rang.

It was my father.

"How are you feeling?"

I looked through the open doorway toward the morning sunlight.

"Free."

He laughed softly.

"I always knew you'd find your way."

As I ended the call, I realized something.

The words I had spoken that terrible night—

"Dad… ruin his life."

—had never really been about revenge.

They had been about ending a cycle of fear.

Because justice is not measured by how completely another person falls.

It is measured by whether you finally rise.

And on the night Adrian believed he had broken me...

May you like

He unknowingly gave me the courage to reclaim my life.

The End.
