Chapter 3: The Secret Behind the Empire

Marcus stared at Amelia in disbelief.

"You lied to me."

She shook her head.

"I stayed silent."

"There is a difference."

She slowly walked toward the windows overlooking the city.

"My father believed that if you knew where the power truly rested, you would chase the title instead of building the company."

"So he made one condition."

"He told me never to reveal the trust unless the family itself was threatened."

She turned to face Marcus.

"You didn't lose this company because you had an affair."

"You lost it because you used the company—and our marriage—as though they were possessions."

The attorney placed one final file on the table.

Inside were receipts documenting luxury purchases charged to corporate accounts, unauthorized use of executive property, and evidence that Amelia's personal jewelry—including her late mother's sapphire brooch—had been removed from the private residence without her permission.

Marcus lowered his eyes.

"I never thought you'd actually leave."

Amelia answered quietly.

"You never imagined I could."

Security entered the boardroom.

Not to arrest him.

Simply to escort him from the executive floor.

As he reached the doorway, he looked back one final time.

No one stopped him.

Power had not been taken from him.

It had merely returned to its rightful place.
