Nathan forced himself to smile.
"So?"
Jonathan nodded once.
"So..."
He looked toward one of the attorneys standing behind him.
"Begin."
The attorney opened a leather portfolio.
"Three minutes ago, Sinclair International exercised every callable loan extended to Ashford Global."
Another attorney continued.
"Seven banks have suspended all corporate credit facilities."
A third spoke.
"The board has voted to remove Nathan Ashford as Chief Executive Officer."
Nathan laughed.
"That's impossible."
"It requires a majority."
"It already happened."
His phone rang.
Board Chairman.
Nathan answered.
"What is this?"
A frightened voice replied.
"It's over."
"They know everything."
Another call.
Chief Financial Officer.
Then General Counsel.
Then his private banker.
Then the Securities Commission.
Each conversation lasted less than thirty seconds.
Each ended the same way.
Nathan's face became paler.
Celeste quietly stepped backward.
Jonathan noticed.
