Ethan Cross stepped confidently into the executive elevator, convinced the previous night's embarrassment was behind him.
His girlfriend, Serena, smiled as photographers gathered outside the ballroom.
"They'll all know you're signing the biggest deal of your career today."
The elevator doors opened.
Inside the boardroom sat twelve directors.
At the head of the table was Olivia Hart.
She wore a charcoal business suit, her hair neatly tied back.
Gone were the sneakers and cardigan from the night before.
Every director stood as she entered.
"Good morning, Madam Chair."
