After the meeting ended, Ethan asked Olivia for one private conversation.

She agreed.

They stood alone in the empty hotel lobby.

Without saying a word, Olivia reached into her pocket.

She unfolded a crisp five-dollar bill.

"The one your girlfriend threw at me."

She placed it gently on the marble counter.

"I kept it."

Ethan lowered his eyes.

"I'm sorry."

Olivia shook her head.

"An apology has value only when it comes before the damage—not after the consequences."

She slid the bill back toward him.
